"The lost animal in the desert." |
|
I chanced on the hadith below and I thought it’s simply too fascinating enough not to share it with others. Al-Harith bin Suwaid reported: I went to Abdullah to visit him while he was sick. He related to us two narrations .One from himself and the other from the messenger of Allah saying-"Allah is more pleased with the repentance of His servant than a man who encamps at a place where his life is jeopadized. But he has his ridding animal carrying his food and water. He then rests his head and sleeps for a short while and wakes to find his ridding animal gone.(He starts looking for it) and suffers from severe heat and thirst or what Allah wishes (him to suffer from). He then says "I will go back to my place”. He returns and sleeps again, and then (while getting up), he raises his head to find his riding animal standing beside him. Allah is more pleased by his servant’s repentance than (the pleasure of) this man on finding his ridding animal and food [Bukhari 6308]. |
