Salam,

no doubt about that!

another thing we often overlook is TIME. we need to set time frames for each of our goals, be they short, medium or long term. and by time frame, i dont mean saying that for e.g. "in the next three months, i intend to be computer literate", but planning it out in this way:

1. in exactly 8 days from now, i should have finished learning how to use Microsoft Word (and you can add a date to the target)
2. in exactly 5 days after that, i should have finished leaning Microsoft Excel
... and so on.

by having a detailed time plan like this, it is easier to achieve targets, and make up for missed ones.

one could go further to plan how many hours one wants to spend per day on the task, and which ACTUAL parts of the day to use. so one could for e.g say,

1. i'll use time after Fajr prayer (5.30am - 6.30am) to practice what i learnt the previous day
2. then use the period between Asr and Maghrib to learn a new chapter (3.30pm - 6.00pm)
... and so on.

personally, this is how i plan my life, and although i do not always meet my targets because some of them are unrealistic, i manage to achieve a lot that way.

SAWW!...SUCCESS?!...The issue of planning is always a difficult one especially in this time when the average individual has so much to do with supposedly little time. Having structured time like qwickmalik suggests is really important and this is seen in lives of students in institutions..The prepared schedule of lectures/modules helps even the slowest most disoragnized student to achieve a lot. The main issue however, is attaining the discipline necessary to help us to structure our time...ISLAM helps a lot with the discipline aspect especially if you have a good ustadh/someone to keep you motivated. Thanks for bringing up this topic lailabash....Its time for plenty of us to reflect...Annur is doing great cos of good time management, discipline, commitment to Islam and by and large, BY ALLAH's WILL! Maa salam
